BUILDING work will start in the autumn on a £12million retirement complex in Bentley Heath.
Already selling apartments for the elderly at Grange Court in Solihull, Aspen Retirement has been granted planning permission to build a further 51 apartments in the borough.
The company won approval to build on a two-acre site on Four Ashes Road, despite concerns from residents about the loss of another open space in the area.
In spite of the controversy surrounding development, Aspen has said the proposals would be a boon for the borough’s ageing population.
Liz Herring, sales and marketing manager for the firm, said: “This new venture, which will be known as Four Ashes Court, will give older people the opportunity to live in the village but still enjoy similar benefits to our home owners at Grange Court.”
The development will comprise one, two and three bedroom apartments.
