First class service - free for a year

First class service - free for a year

BUDGETING for home maintenance, buildings insurance, cleaning and gardening could be a thing of the past with a move to Eastbank Court in Worcester.

All of those things and more are included in a monthly service charge at the popular Aspen Retirement development. But those who reserve one of the spacious apartments now could save more than £6,000 over the next 12 months as the fee, along with ground rent, a reserve fund for the long-term maintenance of the development, and the rental for a car park space, is being waived for a limited time only.

Aspen’s Glenys Bastin explained: “The first impression many people have of Eastbank Court is that it’s like a five-star hotel with excellent communal facilities and friendly staff who are always happy to help. And, while providing, maintaining and staffing the facilities comes at a cost, when you look at what is actually provided it represents good value. Nevertheless, to help people adjust to the idea of a service charge we’re offering to cover the cost for 12 months, providing they reserve an apartment before October 29.”

Many people who’ve moved into the apartments have found it’s surprisingly economical to live at Eastbank Court.

The service charge includes many things that they would have had to pay for in their old homes anyway, such as buildings insurance and window cleaning.

Some were also paying gardeners and needed help with their cleaning.

Glenys added: “At this time of year the grounds look particularly lovely and that’s thanks to the landscape gardener who takes pride in ensuring the gardens are well-cared for so that homeowners can enjoy sitting outside.

“The cost of maintaining the gardens, along with the building itself, is covered by the service charge. The fee also covers staffing – there’s a manager on hand at all times; plus cleaning the communal areas, window cleaning, security and 90 minutes’ regular domestic help for our homeowners. It also subsidises the cost of meals in the on-site licenced restaurant.”

One and two-bedroom apartments are available priced from £184,950. They’re generously proportioned with more than enough space for all the home comforts. For example, in the one-bedroom apartments living room there’s plenty of space for a dining suite as well as a sofa or comfy chairs; while the bedroom is large enough for twin single beds, if preferred, and the hall could easily accommodate a dresser. The piece de resistance is the bathroom, which has both a bath and walk-in shower.

Living at Eastbank Court can also provide a big boost to homeowners’ social lives with everything from sing-along sessions, quizzes and fitness classes held within the development, plus a raft of activities and trips organised by the social committee.

“But people still enjoy all the independence and privacy of owning their own home,” Glenys added.
