1940s style tea party at Eastbank Court on Friday 6th June from 3pm

1940s style tea party at Eastbank Court on Friday 6th June from 3pm

THERE’S the chance for retirees to share their memories of World War II and join in a nostalgic sing-along as part of a tea party at Eastbank Court in Worcester to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings.

Aspen Retirement is hosting a special World War II themed tea party from 3pm next Friday (June 6).

Embracing the spirit of the wartime era, communal areas of the retirement complex will be dressed with bunting and posters and staff will be dressed in 1940s’style costume.

There will even be the chance to taste food prepared using original 1940s’ recipes created when food rationing was at its height, including spice cake made without eggs, butter or milk and spam or beetroot sandwiches.

Guests will be encouraged to share their wartime stories and to join in with a sing-along as Aspen looks to recreates the atmosphere of the period.

Liz Herring, Sales and Marketing Manager for Aspen, says: “Many of our homeowners at Eastbank Court were children or young adults at the time of the original D-Day Landings and even the younger ones will remember tales from their parents even if they don’t remember it themselves. As it’s such a momentous occasion in our nation’s history we want to commemorate it with a special tea party. We’re inviting other older people in the area to come along and if they wish, take a look around the development and see the fantastic facilities available for themselves.”
