Cash Boost for Cancer Charity is Icing on the Cake

LORELY Burt MP joined home owners, their families, friends and staff at Grange Court, Solihull, for tea and cakes in aid of a local hospice.

The Blooming Great Tea Party event raised a huge slice of cash for the Marie Curie cancer care charity’s Warren Pearl hospice, in Solihull, which is the adopted charity locally of Aspen Retirement Living.

Home owners who’ve bought retirement apartments at Grange Court baked cakes for the event and also helped with stalls and a raffle.

Aspen’s sales and marketing manager Liz Herring said: "It was a great day and all the owners helped look after the stalls, so they thoroughly enjoyed it. All had made or bought cakes. We raised £438 which was a marvelous effort and the real icing on the cake. The weather was lovely and guests were able to sit outside."

Local MP Lorely Burt officially opened the event by cutting the first slice of cake.

The Blooming Great Tea Party is just one of a number of social events held regularly at Grange Court, where a real sense of community spirit has evolved.

“Home owners have forged some great friendships and some have even gone on holiday together,” Liz added.
