Bowls club bowled over by sponsorship

WITH prize money from Aspen Retirement on the mat, the annual Barbourne Bowls Club open triples competition takes place on Sunday (September 20).

Located on Redcliffe Street, Worcester, Barbourne Bowls Club is less than half a mile from Aspen Retirement’s Eastbank Court development and a number of its homeowners are members.

Liz Herring, sales and marketing manager for Aspen, says: “There’s no upper age limit to playing bowls and so it’s a great way for older people to stay active. Some of our homeowners at Eastbank Court are members of Barbourne Bowls Club and enjoy playing for both the fitness and social benefits. We were happy to help support the open triples competition by sponsoring the prizes, which should encourage a bit of healthy competition.”

Gareth Roberts, from Barbourne Bowls Club, adds: “The open triples is an annual competition in which teams of three players compete to be crowned the winners, with play-offs for second and third place. Non-members are welcome as it gives them the chance to visit the club and join if they wish. Thanks to Aspen’s sponsorship the first prize this year will be £180.”

Retirees looking for a more manageable home for later life will be bowled over by the apartments at Eastbank Court. One and two-bedroom luxury apartments are set amid hotel-style facilities where homeowners can make the most of their retirement and spend time with like-minded individuals.

The sales office at Eastbank Court is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. For more information call 01905 455 182 or see www.aspenretirement.co.uk/developments/eastbank-court.
